Name of comic: Omega Men #3
Comic publisher: DC Comics
Date: June 1983
Variants: None
What makes it special? This issue includes the first appearance of Lobo, the last Czarnian (he killed everyone on his planet) by creators Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen. Originally a villain, Lobo has occasionally played the role of a violent anti-hero. Throughout the years, Lobo has clashed with Superman (repeatedly) and even fought Santa Claus.
Why is it interesting now? With James Gunn relaunching the DC films, it has been repeatedly suggested that Lobo might be coming to the big screen. Fans are even campaigning for Aquaman actor Jason Momoa to star in the film. This speculation has given his first appearance in Omega Men #3 a strong boost in the comic book market.
Did you know? Lobo has already appeared in live action in the SyFy TV series “Krypton” played by actor Emmett Scanlan, and in the Superman Animated Series voiced by Brad Garrett.
