If there were a Mount Rushmore of comic book creators, there’s no doubt that Stan Lee would be up there for being instrumental in the birth of an entire generation of iconic characters and stories. While we aren’t exactly a mountain monument, we can still pay our respects with this month’s featured CGC Comics Registry set: SIngle Highest CGC Graded Stan Lee’s Signed Run by user Darren / Pristine Comics.

Born Stanley Lieber on December 28, 1922, he adopted “Stan Lee” as a pen name for writing comic books and began his career in 1939 with Timely Comics. By 1941, he was an editor at Timely but was called into military service in 1942. He continued writing and editing for Timely while he was enlisted and returned in 1945. By the 1950s, Timely had become Atlas Comics and Lee was working as a writer, but he was considering leaving comics — until his publisher asked him to create a new line of superheroes to compete with DC Comics.
One of the first creations, with artist Jack Kirby, was the Fantastic Four. The title was an immediate success, and Lee collaborated with Kirby and other creators (including Steve Ditko and Bill Everett) to create what would become the Silver Age of Marvel Comics. His work includes Spider-Man, X-Men, Avengers, Hulk, Daredevil, Dr. Strange and many, many more.
The pantheon he helped create would launch an empire that redefined the comic book industry, and later other media including film and television. Lee passed away in 2018 at the age of 95.
This set includes more than 100 signed comics, and many have the highest grade among CGC Signature Series comics in the CGC Census.
